Spyros Verykios is a Greek visual artist whose practice is rooted in painting and extends to drawing, photography, comics and visual narrative. Trained in painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where he also completed a Master of Fine Arts, he has developed a figurative body of work that moves between observed reality, memory, fiction and popular imagery. His paintings often stage psychologically charged, sometimes uncanny situations in which everyday scenes acquire a cinematic or metaphysical tension.

Since the 1990s, Verykios has presented solo exhibitions in Greece and abroad and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and international biennials. In parallel, he has maintained a long-standing engagement with comics and illustration, with work published in Greece and internationally, including Heavy Metal, C’est Bon Anthology and Stripburger. He has also curated thematic exhibitions exploring the dialogue between contemporary art, comics, cinema and popular visual culture.
